Rovo AI assistant

Strategy Hub plugs into Atlassian Rovo, the AI assistant built into Jira. It contributes an agent—Strategy Hub (Jira)—that answers questions about your strategy in plain language, reading from the same Strategic Items (Items for short), Statuses, progress, and Insights you already see in the views. Ask how something is tracking, what needs attention, or for a draft update, and it replies in a chat panel without you leaving Jira.

The Strategy Hub agent#

Rovo opens as a chat panel docked to the side of Jira. Pick the Strategy Hub (Jira) agent and ask in your own words. Answers are grounded in your data—not generic web knowledge—so the agent names specific Items, reports their current Status and progress, and links straight back to them. A reply is usually a short summary plus a table, and each row links to the Item so you can jump from the answer into the view.

After an answer, the agent suggests follow-up questions—click one to drill in without retyping. The footer carries Atlassian’s standing reminder that the reply is AI-generated.

Where to open it#

You can start a conversation from several places. Each opens the same agent; some pre-scope what you’re asking about.

The Strategy Hub dashboard with the header and Needs attention card Ask Strategy Hub buttons marked

  1. Header buttonAsk Strategy Hub sits in the Strategy Hub header, reachable from any view. It opens the agent with a blank prompt, scoped to your workspace.
  2. Card button — the same Ask Strategy Hub appears on individual cards, like Needs Attention. It opens the agent focused on what that card shows.

Two more entry points complete the set:

  • From Jira’s top navigation. Ask Rovo opens Rovo with its default assistant. Switch to this agent with Change agent, or @mention Strategy Hub in any Rovo chat.
  • From an Item. Open an Item and choose Ask Strategy Hub about this item. It pre-fills a question about that Item—its current Status, progress, recent activity, and what needs attention in its subtree—and sends it for you.

What you can ask#

Ask in whatever words fit. The agent understands your Items, their Statuses and progress, Owners and Teams, history, and the Insights raised against them. For example:

  • “Which of my Key Results are off track this quarter?”
  • “Summarize how the Increase Revenue Objective is tracking.”
  • “Which Objective does this Key Result belong to, and are any related Key Results at risk?”
  • “What changed on this Item recently?”
  • “Draft a status update for my Team’s work this week.”

A question can name an Item by key (KR-5) or describe it (the Revenue Objective), and you can keep the thread going—each follow-up builds on the last answer.

What Rovo can see#

The agent works within your access. It reads only Items you are allowed to see, so a Restricted Item you have no grant for never appears in an answer. Asking through Rovo doesn’t widen that boundary—it is the same one the views enforce. See Access and permissions for how access is decided.

Tip — Rovo is conversational, so confirm anything you’ll act on. For a figure of record—an audit number, a status someone is relying on—open the Item or view and read it directly.

  • Insights — the findings the agent reads when it tells you what needs attention.
  • Access and permissions — the access boundary every Rovo answer stays inside.
  • Dashboard — home of the Needs Attention card and its Ask Strategy Hub button.
  • Strategic Items — open an Item to ask Rovo about it directly.
