Roadmap

The Roadmap answers “when?”. It lays your Items out on a horizontal time axis so you can see how work is sequenced, where deadlines bunch up, and what is running past its dates. The hierarchy sits on the left as a table; the timeline fills the right. Use it when the conversation is about timing rather than structure—for that, see the Hierarchy map.

Reading the Roadmap#

The Roadmap is one screen split down the middle. On the left, a table lists your Items with three columns—Name, Progress, and Status. On the right, a time axis draws each Item as a bar across the dates it spans. Every row in the table lines up with one bar.

The Roadmap: a table of Items on the left—Name, Progress, and Status—beside a quarterly time axis where each Item is drawn as a colored bar, with a dashed Today line

  1. Item tree — the Name column lists your Items in hierarchy order, indented under their parents. Expand or collapse a parent with its chevron; a collapsed parent shows a count of the children it hides.
  2. Progress — each Item’s value against its target, as a percentage.
  3. Status — the Item’s current Status, such as Off Track or On Track, colored by its category.
  4. Timeline bars — each Item runs from its start date to its end date, labeled with its key and name. The bar’s dates come from the Item itself; open the Item to change them.
  5. Today line — a dashed vertical marker for the current date, so you can read at a glance what is behind, current, or still ahead.

Setting the time scale#

Two controls decide how much time the axis shows.

The Period selector at the top scopes the whole view to one planning Period, such as Q2 2026. Change it and the table and timeline recompute together.

The zoom controls at the bottom right set how densely the axis is drawn: Auto sizes it to fit, and Week, Month, Quarter, and Year each fix the column width. Scroll to today jumps the timeline back to the Today line when you have scrolled away.

Filtering and sorting#

The toolbar narrows what the Roadmap shows. Type into the search box to find an Item by name or key. Open Filter to narrow by Status, Type, Owner, Teams, Labels, or Parent—the same filter the other views use. Sort the table by clicking the Name, Progress, or Status column header.

A filter you return to can be kept: Saved filters lists the ones you have stored, and Create new saves the current set.

Opening an Item#

Everything on the Roadmap is a way into the detail.

  • Open an Item — click an Item’s key or name to open its Item details view, where you can edit its dates, value, and Status.
  • Reorder the tree — drag a row by its handle to move an Item within the hierarchy.
  • Row actions — the more menu on a row carries the same actions as the Item itself, such as archiving it.
  • Hierarchy map — the same Items arranged by structure instead of by time.
  • Strategic Items — the dates and hierarchy that drive every bar.
  • Overview — the flat, filterable list of the same Items.
